 What is a Change Management Proposal?
The development of a proposal for change in one aspect of healthcare will be required to
demonstrate student’s cognitive, technical and research skills and their ability to investigate,
analyze and synthesize complex information around change and its potential impact in the
context of healthcare.
An understanding of the many elements to be considered when planning and implementing
changes within the workplace will be required.
The proposal will, from a leadership perspective, consider:
• why the change is needed (and will require a rationale using the research literature)
• who the change will impact
• what potential barriers need to be overcome
• key stages of the process
• the communication and consultation approach
• time frame for proposed change, and
• how the change will be implemented and evaluated to ensure success.
A well written proposal will need to consider the comprehensive knowledge developed from this
unit and will show effective independent judgement and analytical skills.
General Structure and Criteria for Writing a Change Management Proposal:
Project title: The title should be clear
Introduction: This section includes an introduction to the topic and the proposed change.
Aim: The aim is the broad expected outcome and what you hope the proposed management
plan will achieve.
Significance of Proposed Change Management Plan:
• Why is it important / significant in your discipline?
• What do we know about it according to the relevant, contemporary literature?
• What don't we know about it? What are the gaps or silences in the literature
