The Role of Health Education in Health Promotion

Health promotion focuses on empowering community members to improve their health status. Awareness and outreach activities required in health promotion use health education to compel change in health-seeking behavior in the community. Health promotion is generally a compelling method; therefore, health behavior encourages individuals to believe that the decisions are voluntary. Health education ensures individuals are equipped with health knowledge and can make the right decisions concerning their health (Woods, 2022).

The nursing process is used to diagnose, treat, and prevent diseases. The nursing process ensures that the treatment goals of a patient are achieved. Nurses are trained to deliver quality care. The nursing process develops health education that covers diagnosis, evaluation, implementation, planning, and assessment (Toney & Thayer, 2022). Nursing students are trained to use the nursing care process when managing patients. The assessment stage ensures a nurse collects all vital information to diagnose the patient. Secondly, the collected information determines the patient’s diagnosis and management. The planning stage ensures the nurse selects a suitable therapy for the patient. The intervention step requires the nurse to implement the chosen therapy. Finally, evaluation is essential in determining the effectiveness of the patient’s treatment.

Disagreements on parenting are an issue that several families experience today. With the high divorce rates, co-parenting is unavoidable. Estranged partners have a challenge taking part in smooth co-parenting. Children in such an environment suffer from mental health problems such as anxiety and depression. A nurse’s health education plan on a child’s health must address the child’s living conditions. Counseling is recommended to the child and the parents. Parents must understand their child’s benefits in a peaceful and stable environment.
