A Study of Cyber Security Awareness of G12 CSS Students

The development of networks, unrestrained social networking, thousands of active users, and apps at any given moment have all been made possible by technological improvements in computing environments and computer applications. Cybercriminals, masked as hackers, antisocial people, and others looking to exploit system vulnerabilities, exist since many of these users and apps are vulnerable (Sabaratnam and Kirby, 2012). The birth of the Internet was widely considered one of the most valuable ever created innovations used globally. With all these advantages, it also comes with a negative side resulting in misusing it by the users. The use of the Internet has come with many cyber-related risks. These risks include cyber addiction (Annansingh & Veli, 2016), personal information exposure (Muniandy & Muniandy, 2012), personal information exposure (Anderson, Ktoridou, Eteokleous, & Zahariadou, 2012), and online fraud addiction (Mosalanejad, Dehghani, & Abdolahifard, 2014 - Ratten, 2015). Information technology, such as mobile devices and digital applications, has transformed daily life, facilitating diverse lifestyles in many areas. The ease of technology usage and increased demand for online connectivity have expanded opportunities for internet users globally. Indeed, some of these uses include reading digital newspapers, surfing the web, utilizing search engines to find desired content, assisting recommender systems in the form of decision support tools, and using social media, to name a few. Nevertheless, while internet consumption buttressed by information technology improvements increases dramatically (Maurseth, 2018)
