Abstract

This paper examines the argument for and against the legality of abortion. The right to life of an unborn child, the potential risks to the mother’s health, and the long-term implications for society are all discussed(Grossman et al.,2022). The paper evaluates the scientific evidence, social context, and ethical considerations of abortion and ultimately argues that abortions should be illegal. The paper concludes that the government should protect the rights of the unborn and ensure that women have access to affordable, safe, and comprehensive prenatal care and other forms of reproductive health care.

Introduction

Abortion is one of the most controversial topics in the world today. It has been a source of endless debates between those who believe it should be legal and those who think it should be illegal. On one side, those who support abortion rights argue that it is a woman’s right to choose whether or not to terminate a pregnancy(Cowan et al .,2022). On the other side, those who oppose abortion rights argue that it is tantamount to murder and should be illegal. In the United States, the legality of abortion is constitutionally protected, with the landmark 1973 Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade making it legal in all 50 states. However, the debate over the morality and legality of abortion continues to rage, both in the United States and worldwide (Hendricks.,2022). This paper evaluates the arguments for and against the legality of abortion, drawing on scientific evidence, social context, and ethical considerations.

Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy, usually done through a medical procedure(De Londras et al.,2022). It is a highly controversial issue, with many holding strong opinions on either side of the debate.

Literature Review.

Abortion is incredibly divisive and highly contested, with passionate advocates on both sides. Those who oppose abortion point to the right to life of the unborn child, the potential harm to the physical and mental health of the mother, and the long-term negative impacts on society(Abdullah et al.,2021). . Proponents of abortion, the other hand, argue that each woman should have the right to make decisions about her own body and that abortion should remain legal to protect her right to autonomy, to prevent unwanted pregnancies, and for the health and safety of the mother. This literature review will explore the arguments for and against abortion to provide a balanced overview.

First, the right to life of the unborn child will be discussed. It is argued that a fetus is a living human being and thus has the right to life. This argument is supported by the fact that a fetus has unique DNA, is capable of feeling pain, and depends on its mother for survival. Abortion has been linked to an increased risk of mental health issues in women, including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and suicidal thoughts(Mark et al.,2021). The long-term impacts of abortion on society will be examined. It is argued that abortion can lead to a decrease in birth rates, which can have detrimental economic and social effects, as well as a decrease in cultural values such as family and marriage. Ultimately, this literature review has shown that the arguments for and against abortion are complex and multifaceted and should be considered carefully.

This can be seen as a violation of the child’s natural right to life and a form of discrimination. Abortion also disregards the potential the unborn child may have had had, had they been given a chance to live. It is impossible to know what the unborn child could have accomplished or how they could have contributed to society had they been given a chance to live.

Abortions can pose a risk to the physical and mental health of the mother. This is especially true in unsafe abortions, as they can result in serious complications such as infection, heavy bleeding, and in extreme cases, death. Evidence suggests that abortions can have psychological effects on the mother, such as feelings of guilt, depression, and anxiety.
