Answer 4 for HRM 635 Explain how the performance appraisal tool used within your respective organizations aligns with the organization’s strategic goals

Employee performance plays a crucial role in achieving an organization’s strategic goals. When employees perform well, they contribute to the overall success of the organization. On the other hand, poor employee performance can negatively impact an organization’s performance and hinder its ability to achieve its strategic goals. By aligning employee performance with the organization’s strategic goals, employees can understand how their work contributes to the bigger picture and feel more motivated to perform at their best. This, in turn, can lead to increased productivity, improved quality of work, and better customer satisfaction. Therefore, it is essential for organizations to have a performance management process in place that provides employees with feedback, identifies areas for improvement, and sets goals that align with the organization’s strategic goals.

The employee appraisal tool utilized within my organization is a comprehensive process that is broken up into several sections, each of which is focused on our core values. These values are centered around honesty and integrity, quality and excellence, teamwork, innovation, community, compassion, and caring (Sutter Health, 2022). Every member of every team within the hospital is expected to align their behaviors with these values as the core of their approach to care. This includes nursing staff, ancillary staff, and the management team, who are all held to the same high standards to ensure that the organization is moving toward its strategic goals. The performance management process is an integral part of employee growth and development within all team members’ respective jobs. It provides employees with feedback on their performance, identifies areas where they need improvement, and sets goals that align with their career aspirations and the organization’s strategic goals. Through this process, employees can continuously improve their skills, knowledge, and competencies, which leads to their growth and development within the organization.

The performance management process is not a one-time event but rather an ongoing process that involves routine feedback and communication with reference to the employee’s alignment with company goals. This approach provides employees with the opportunity to expand their understanding and excel in their roles. By receiving regular feedback and communication, employees can stay on track with their goals and make adjustments as needed to ensure that they are meeting the organization’s expectations (Dessler, 2018, pp. 300-305). There is an annual performance appraisal, peer feedback/ review, and patient satisfaction. Overall, the performance management process is a critical component of our organization’s success, as it helps us to achieve our strategic goals while also supporting the growth and development of our employees.
