Interview Summary In the interview, I gained insights into the organization, which is a small health medical center located in Whittier, Los Angeles committed to providing high-quality patient care across diverse units. As a Staff Nurse in the definitive observation unit, my interviewee's primary duties involve coordinating patient care, managing the nursing team, and collaborating with healthcare professionals. I planned and used open-ended questions, organizational initiative, and leadership role interview strategy starting the interview; an issue within the organization revolves around a persistent challenge in communication and collaboration among interdisciplinary teams, particularly during shift transitions and among less experienced nurses. This issue has the potential to impact patient care by causing misunderstandings and delays in inpatient treatment plans. Regarding to this issue, the organization has implemented various strategies, including training sessions on effective communication, the introduction of standardized handover protocols, and the initiation of a pilot program for interdisciplinary rounds to address these challenges. Leadership has mostly played an active role in supporting these initiatives, promoting a positive culture of open communications, and providing resources for technology implementation. The interview strategy of reflection on interdisciplinary team experience and summarization and confirmation work well in identifying interdisciplinary issues. While there has been some improvement, the success of these activities differs among different units, such as med-surge, incentive care units, and emergency rooms, among others, demonstrating that persistent efforts are required to integrate improvements into the organizational culture fully. The general attitude toward collaboration among different disciplines is improving; however, there are differences across people and departments
