Assessment of my Personal and Professional Growth throughout the Capstone Project and the RN-to-BSN Program.

This capstone project has enhanced my professional development as well as personal growth. One major area that I developed in was the application of ethical principles, during access, retrieval, storage and sharing of patient information; care delivery; and, patient education. Throughout all the clinical procedures, I had to maintain high levels of confidentiality, integrity, beneficence, non-maleficence and respect for the patient’s choices. In addition, the project made me realize that I was fully accountable for my actions and decisions, and that involving an interdisciplinary team during practice was critical to improve patient safety, ensure quality care and efficient care delivery. A specific growth area that impacted on my practice was the ability to coordinate care and improve patient care using technology. The use of telehealth and e-Health records for interdisciplinary collaboration and communication ensured the realization of patient treatment goals as well as the organizational objectives, hence improving efficiency in care delivery and reducing workload. Generally, interdisciplinary collaboration ensures high standards of patient care and efficiency in addressing critical health concerns.
