The Maslow Hierarchy of Needs is a psychology motivational theory that constitute of
five tiers in a pyramid that depict the needs of human beings (Kremer & Hammond,
2013). The lower tier needs should be satisfied first for an individual to move to the net
level. The needs are as shown on the diagram below:

At Great Care Pty, the needs of the elderly are the focus of the business. The elderly have
undoubtedly lived long and some if not all have fulfilled most of the needs lower down the
hierarchy (such as working, getting married, getting children, acquiring investments,
among others). They may also have achieved the social status, ego, and self actualization
and belong or belonged to certain social groups. However, at the current point in life, the
elderly may find themselves back at the third level of social needs. They are now faced

with the need to be loved and belonging a society that seems to no longer need them (like
in the case of retirement, the elderly are no longer needed in the workforce). Great Care Pty
ensures that the elderly feel valued and this is done by giving them a place to come
together, commune, and interact with each other. The company offers assistance with daily
living for the elderly, create tailored plans for individuals to help them go through daily
routine, and for those that are capable,
