Evidence-Based Practice Model and Importance of Credible Evidence in EBP Models

Evidence-Based Practice Model and Importance of Credible Evidence in EBP Models

As the prevention of medication errors is a collective effort of nurses, health care providers, patients, and everyone involved in the medication process, the Knowledge to Action (KTA) Framework is the most suitable EBP model in this situation. The KTA model is suitable for reducing and preventing medication errors as it facilitates the application of evidence and knowledge across various stakeholders to achieve the objectives of the inter-stakeholder goals, in this case, the reduction of medication errors. Therefore, credible evidence is required to bring together the stakeholders and guide them toward achieving their goals in the medication process.

Conclusion

This discussion has shown that the credibility of the sources of evidence is an important aspect to be considered to fully address a healthcare safety and quality issue. To meet the goal of evidence-based research and support nursing intervention for medication errors with credible evidence, the baccalaureate-prepared nurse must evaluate the evidence and the resources based on specified criteria to determine their credibility and relevance. Additionally, as an EBP model is required to support the implementation of evidence-based approaches, only credible and relevant evidence should be incorporated into the EBP model to address medication errors in nursing care.
