Furthermore, psychological treatments include relaxation training, stimulus control and sleep
restriction. Relaxation allows a person to relax his/her muscles and systematically tense in
different parts of the body to help induce sleep and calm the body. Stimulus control helps to
create association between sleep and bed room. To break any unhealthy association between
wakefulness and bedroom a person has to get into bed awake for twenty or more minutes. Sleep

restriction is a schedule wake time and bedtimes and also limits the time to only when a person is
sleeping.
The role of good sleep hygiene helps the body and mind to replenish its cells, restore energy and
rebuild tissues. One has to sleep to gain enough energy in order to accomplish body functions.
Enough sleep provides several benefits for mental and physical health and lower risk of stroke,
diabetes, heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer and obesity. Sleep also keeps the level of energy
improves mood and fights depression and anxiety.
