Influence of sociocultural factors and my cultural identity in my art making

To express my drawing, I used pencil colours to paint the drawing based on my imagination and
how I felt the earth was and how it is now. There are a number of sociocultural and cultural
identity factors that influenced my art-making process. In India, the environment and nature are
very important phenomena that are protected and nurtured (Chhibber, 2008). Indians take pride
in the environment as well as nature. As a matter of fact, religion in Indian culture is intertwined
with nature (Riganti, 2017). Besides, given the fact that in our culture we consider the earth as
mother and the worship of the earth has been in existence from long ago in the Indian culture.
Based on the Indian culture, the earth yields survival fruits to those who work hard and offer
selfless services to the earth (Kumar, 2019). Similarly, Royal (2007) states that in Māori
tradition and history, Papatūānuku is the land, a mother earth that gives birth to all
beings, including mankind, and provides the physical and spiritual foundation for life.
