Interview Transcript- Advocating for the Nursing Role in Program Design and Implementation Tell us about a healthcare program within your practice. What are the costs and projected outcomes of this program? Vaccinate a child!

What is your target population?

The program is intended to reach out to all patient populations. This is because caregivers of children are aged differently, have varied genders, and come from different races. However, the main beneficiaries are children within the vaccination age range. The program will target children and caregivers in Colorado, where the facility is located.

Interview Transcript- Advocating for the Nursing Role in Program Design and Implementation Tell us about a healthcare program within your practice. What are the costs and projected outcomes of this program? Vaccinate a child!

Vaccination of children at the infant stages is important in ensuring their immunity is strengthened. The Vaccinate a Child program is intended to improve the rates of children’s vaccine uptake through various ages. The current routine vaccinations for children have been negatively affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. These effects are not only visible in the USA but also around the world. Furthermore, various populations exhibited low vaccination coverage, such as people of colour (WHO, 2021). The vaccination rates for 2019 and 2020 were particularly low for black children aged 7 and 18 months in comparison to the other races. The hesitancy and reluctance among at least 25 per cent of black caregivers to seek vaccination for their children were established as the main reasons for the low rates (DeSilva, Haapala, & Vazquez-Benitez, 2021). Therefore, this program is intended to educate the varied populations and ensure that the vaccination rates are restored or improved. The expected outcomes include.

High rates of vaccination among children in comparison to 2019 and 2020

Reduced hesitation among caregivers

Increased knowledge about vaccinations

Reduced incidences as the vaccine uptake increases

The program is expected to consume significant human and financial resources during its existence. The program will run for at least six months, and it will cost at least $30,000.
