Reflection
The MBA program offered by Capella University has significantly transformed my life and professional development moving forward. After completing my Bachelor of Health Administration (BHA), I had not considered pursuing my MBA at this time. My responsibilities as a manager in a hospital setting were increasing, and I felt it was not the right moment to embark on this journey. However, with a goal-oriented mindset, I challenged myself to complete this program in a single twelve-week session, which began on July 13th. By effectively managing my time and navigating COVID-19 restrictions, I am now just one assessment away from achieving my goal. Upon enrollment, I was confident in my ability to meet the coursework requirements. Confidence is one of my strengths, along with resilience and commitment. Reflecting on my journey, I take pride in having challenged myself, and I am excited about what the future holds.
Through hard work, dedication, and perseverance, I have acquired skills that connect my professional and personal passions, allowing me to realize a childhood dream. As I approach the completion of my MBA degree, I feel empowered and enthusiastic about executing my new plans that are already in place. As I transition into a new career in healthcare leadership, I look forward to applying and sharing the tools I have gained through my capstone experience. I intend to incorporate action plans into all my decisions to maintain personal accountability and focus on my newly developed strengths. The talents I have gained from my MBA program will support my future aspirations.
Apply Strengths
My BetterUp assessment identified my leadership strengths as problem-solving, strategic planning, motivation, growth mindset, and resilience (BetterUp, 2020). The capstone assignment allowed me to leverage these strengths by evaluating various financial, leadership, and business health perspectives. Understanding the root of a problem enables me to determine which strategic approach is most suitable for a given situation. My problem-solving and strategic planning abilities were particularly highlighted as I posed critical questions to ensure that Hertz’s organizational financial recovery is achievable if leadership is willing to embrace evidence-based recommendations. As a member of Hertz’s financial restructuring team, I would apply my strengths through effective communication by presenting the organization’s current financial status and the positive impact of aligning recommendations with desired outcomes.
Collaborating with external accounting firms to reassess and implement corrective actions would be an ideal first step for the company to regain optimal financial health. Additionally, I could leverage my strengths by engaging in informative discussions and coaching sessions with colleagues to reaffirm our goals, promote ideas, develop policies, and address concerns related to the firm’s financial challenges. I am confident that my leadership strengths can positively influence Hertz’s business practices by fostering transparency and ethical financial methodologies. Furthermore, I aim to provide problem-solving skills and motivation to our current shareholders, assuring them that we are on the path to rectifying our mistakes and enhancing our public image while improving our current SEC perceptions.
Future Goal
My future goal is to advance into executive leadership roles within a hospital or business setting, continually enhancing my leadership strengths through monthly BetterUp coaching and sharing the knowledge I have gained with young minds in my community. I plan to remain in my current field for an additional five years, refining my expertise in healthcare management and learning how to lead effectively in challenging situations. The steps I will take to achieve and support my goal will include, but are not limited to, adopting a growth mindset, focusing on learning, embracing mistakes, and celebrating small achievements.
Change in Mindset
I have often been told that this approach seems simplistic; however, every change I make in my life begins with a decision. Therefore, I plan to fully commit to my choices to change my mindset. While I may sometimes hesitate to explore new challenges in my career, I intend to adopt a different approach and embrace these opportunities.
Focus on Growing and Learning
For me, the key is not to concentrate solely on the finish line but to focus on reaching the next step or milestone.
Therefore, steady progress is an example of learning and growth.
This will be crucial because if I stay on track, I will achieve my goals. I will not shy away from making mistakes. I will approach all endeavors with the understanding that I may not be as knowled
