The RN-to-BSN program accords students a chance to engage and participate in scholarly activities outside of professional practice or clinical settings. Attending conferences, and seminars in interdisciplinary committees as well as participating in morbidity and mortality meetings are some of the scholarly activities that nursing students can participate in beyond the clinical setting. The purpose of this paper is to describe the scholarly activity I engaged in in my practice setting.

Overview
This activity aimed to enhance the implementation of quality improvement initiatives in the facility by tackling issues like nurse burnout using evidence-based interventions like mindfulness and self-care techniques to combat burnout. The quality improvement committee aimed at addressing the issue of burnout affecting nurses in the facility and I was a member. The activity occurred in one of the meeting rooms where a round table setting was preferred. The committee also had a chief nurse, the quality assurance manager, the chief executive, two nurses, and the informatics nurse. The activity was beneficial to me as dealing with burnout will lead to improved care quality and outcomes for patients.
Problem
Burnout is a serious patient safety and quality issue as it affects performance and productivity among nurses and other health providers. Close to 30% of nurses leaving the profession attribute it to constant burnout due to workload and shortage of nurses. Burnout is a problem since it requires a level of performance for nurses and risks patient safety. Therefore, burnout is a problem for the healthcare industry and organizations since training and orienting a nurse is expensive.
Participation in scholarly activity ensures that nurses accrue the associated benefits like access to evidence-based practice and care. Participating in this activity provides nurses with real-life situations of handling patients and working hard to enhance their quality of care. Consequently, the activity aims at enhancing patient safety, improving inter-professional collaboration, and enhancing the quality of care.
Currently, the topic is in the implementation stage where the facility is leveraging the IOWA EBP model to integrate different aspects to enhance performance and productivity while addressing the nursing-patient ratio in facilities that experience burnout among nurses.
Solution
Evidence-based practice (EBP) solutions are essential to managing type 2 diabetes. These solutions are designed to enhance the quality of life without being a burden to society and the healthcare system. In this case, the proposed solution to the issue entails mindfulness exercises and self-care techniques. Self-care and mindfulness are critical to enhancing resilience and improving stressful situations that nurses encounter as important players in the system. The solution addresses the problem by demonstrating that those who engage in mindfulness and self-care have reduced susceptibility to burnout and associated adverse events.
Opportunity
The proposed scholarly activity and interdisciplinary committee meeting will provide nurses the chance to enhance their competencies in other areas. Attending this scholarly activity is essential for one to improve and implement better approaches to various issues in one’s life. Nurses must leverage evidence-based practice (EBP) interventions to grow and offer quality patient care. Through this activity, I believe that my perception will change with the completion of the selected project and other aspects. Therefore, participation in scholarly activity is critical as it allows nurses to get opportunities to meet experts and make possible recommendations.
