Interdisciplinary Team Role in Collecting and Reporting Quality Indicator Data

The collection and distribution of the data collected by using modern technological systems and monitoring systems is the next important step to be addressed. An interdisciplinary team has an important role in the collection and dissemination of the data gathered among various departments of our organization to promote patient-centered outcomes and enhance the overall performance of our hospital. After conducting interviews with various highly experienced and skillful personnel involved in the collection and distribution of data I got to know that this is the most important step in enhancing the key performance of our departments. All the members of an inter-professional team including nurses, doctors, healthcare staff, paramedics, physicians, and psychiatrists are responsible for hospital database maintenance. Our hospital team is highly professional and is always on standby 24/7 in case of any emergency. Our topmost priority is the provision of quality treatment and the safety of the patients. The nurses are mandated to keep the track of patients’ history at the time of arrival and guide the doctor on duty. They are also involved in the making of proposals and reports after conducting research including the NSI statistics to compare with the NDNQI dataset. Various surveys are conducted on the monthly basis for the collection of NDNQI data that is extremely vital for guiding the nursing staff in improving their performance. The collected information is distributed to various departments of the organization using electronic health record tools such as emails, online databases, and patient data apps. Therefore, our nurses play a vital role in the better performance of the organization

After conducting vast research and interviewing my colleagues and professionals I came to the conclusion that nurses have the most important role in the collection and reporting of the data correctly. The data collected by them using various IT tools is extremely essential for comparing and monitoring the consequences of nursing practices (Start, et al., 2018). One mistake can ruin the entire collective effort of an inter-professional team.

Informatics and data are an asset for the organization, a lack of nursing knowledge and experience can escalate the risk of increased fall rate in an ambulatory setting. Nurses are responsible for maintaining the electronic health record and providing the information to various departments of the organization when needed. The privacy and security of the patient’s data recorded are also one of the most important aspects. Therefore, nurses must be very mindful of their roles and responsibilities. Nurses must abide by the guidelines and nursing-sensitive quality indicators to ensure high-quality outcomes and better care in an ambulatory setting for fall prevention. Any mishandling or provision of wrong data can cause serious repercussions for the doctors as well as can risk the life of the patient.

Use of Selected Nursing-Sensitive Quality Indicators to Enhance Patient Care Outcomes

According to the data gathered by conducting surveys and interviews, it has been proved that Nursing-sensitive quality indicators are extremely helpful in evolving and improving the patient-centered care outcomes and performance reports of the organization. Our organization is in a constant struggle to improve and enhance the overall performance by ensuring the use of NSIs in the most effective and operational manner. We have been continuously gathering patients and their families’ feedback to improve our performance. The maintenance of data using electronic tools helps us to generate reports and statistics for NDNQI to keep a check on nursing quality attributes and professional attitudes. With the help of NSIs, we are working on the development of standardized tools for care coordination and detection of diseases, and conducting annual surveys for the evaluation of indicators and quality improvement. The continuous monitoring of the daily performance in ambulatory care helps us to analyze the outcomes of treatment and medication given to the patients and devise the plan accordingly to reduce the pain levels and suffering of the patients.
