The Baldrige Performance Excellence Program is a national recognition award for top-
performing organizations. This prestigious award was initiated in 1987 in response to poor quality and
productivity of companies, ineffective management of teams, and to promote pride in an organization
giving them a competitive edge over others (NIST, 2021). The Baldrige program values ethics and high
organizational performance to identify and promote best management practices and principles (NIST,
2021). AMC is yet to be a recipient of this recognition.
AMC is known for being the area’s first Level 1 Trauma Center. They are the only Comprehensive
Stroke Center with thrombectomy capabilities in Northwest Louisiana, and they started the state’s only
Pediatric Trauma Center (Ochsner LSU Health, 2023). Other recognitions include being Louisiana’s first
advanced interventional cardiology department and comprehensive atrial fibrillation center of
excellence recipient from the American Heart Association (Ochsner LSU Health, 2023). They do not have
Magnet designation currently. Achieving Magnet status from ANCC means they have a high-functioning
and talented nursing staff whose work is based on best practice guidelines and exceptional patient
experience (ANCC, 2023). This improves job satisfaction and professional development and promotes an
organization's safe and collaborative culture (Urden et al., 2021)
