Restrictions on Free Speech on Social Media Platforms Should restrictions on free speech be implemented on social media platforms?

I hope to learn more about the First Amendment stipulations concerning free speech and social media from this research. Additionally, I hope to learn of already existing free speech restrictions on some social media platforms in addition to states and countries that implement regulations. Currently, I understand that free speech restriction on social media platforms fuels debates concerning this research conversation. First, the causes for the need for restrictions include misinformation, hate speech, cyberbullying, etc. Secondly, the role of the First Amendment in protecting both social media platforms and free speech.

In this research, there are two perspectives. From one perspective, restrictions are required for regulation and censorship to limit the negative use of social media platforms, including misinformation. On the other hand, implementing restrictions on social media platforms infringes upon First Amendment stipulations. On this note, I need to find out the potential infringement on the First Amendment caused by placing restrictions on free speech on social media platforms, which will aid in the research. My classmates will be helpful in this research by helping me identify potential errors I might overlook and also by asking questions that will help me deepen my research.

Search strategies are significant while conducting research. Some search strategies include word or phrase searching and using Boolean operators for result specificity (McGowan et al. 42). Further, several helpful databases are resourceful: Google Scholar, JSTOR, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Nexis Uni (“Top 10 Databases” University of Wisconsin). There are various strategies for organizing and keeping track of research, including determining databases to be used, managing resources to be used, making notes, and summarizing important information relating to the study before drafting. All this information is significant in research; however, source selection is essential in selecting reliable sources to be used in the research.
