Screenings for maternal mental health disorders are under or ineffectively used. Discuss at least two (2) strategies for collaborating with providers in your community to offer screenings and appropriate referrals to mental health providers to promote better outcomes for maternal mental health.
Forming partnerships with obstetricians, pediatricians, and other healthcare providers, and maintain regular follow-ups to guarantee the effective execution of screenings and proper referrals (Miller et al., 2020).
Organizing workshops aimed at primary care providers, nurses, and midwives to train them in recognizing symptoms of perinatal mental health and providing the appropriate referrals (Miller et al., 2020).
Incorporating maternal mental health screenings (e.g., Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale) as a standard part of prenatal and postpartum care, along with providing comprehensive decision trees for providers, could be crucial in identifying at-risk patients and initiating early treatment (Miller et al., 2020).
