Summary: What is your “take away” from this review? Evaluation

            The evaluation of a chosen theory was a great way to really understand and “get inside” Virginia Henderson’s head. This has allowed me to appreciate the nursing theory more and see where modern nursing came from initially. The evolution of the profession of nursing from the 1900’s until now is a lot to wrap your head around. Without these early nursing theorists, I do not know what the field of nursing would be like today. I do not think nursing professionals will fully appreciate nursing theory without really understanding where it started from.

            However, I think it would be beneficial to look more nursing theorist closely that laid the foundation of nursing. I have grasped the Need Theory well, but other nursing theories I only know basic knowledge over. A contrast and comparison piece between two theorists and answer multiple questions over different theories would be adequate to grasp different concepts. All in all, I have gained much knowledge by reviewing and evaluating Virginia Henderson’s concepts and Need Theory.
