Technology, Care Coordination, and Community Resources Considerations

Because hypertension rarely causes noticeable symptoms, it often goes untreated for a

long time in those suffering from it. With hypertension, blood pressure is consistently and

dangerously high throughout the arteries, putting stress on the heart and other organs. Blood

pressure above 130 over 80 is considered high when measured in millimeters of mercury. The

heart's muscle becomes thicker because it must work harder to pump blood when blood pressure

is up. Oxygen delivery to the organs is slowed because the arteries have to work harder and get

damaged. An ischemic stroke or a heart attack might result from a blood clot formed from artery

damage. Heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, and vision are just some health issues hypertension

can lead to. The origin of high blood pressure is a medical mystery in more than 90% of patients

(Lamidi, 2022). Hypertension affects almost 30% of people and over 60% of the elderly; African

Americans are disproportionately affected. Many factors contribute to hypertension, yet its exact

origins remain unknown (Greer & Abel, 2022). Hypertension is a complicated disease because of

its several causes, including genetics and environmental factors.

Impact of Healthcare Technology

The medical technology field is dynamic and constantly developing. In the past, charts

were kept on paper, but computers are employed today. Scanning medicine and patient bracelets

is another technological improvement. With this method, the safety of the patients is improved,

and the number of medication errors is decreased. All care team members have access to and can

collaborate with the electronic medical records. No matter a patient's current health status,

technological advancements in healthcare have increased the quality and safety of their care. Not

only are modern medical equipment cheaper, but they are also more complicated, intelligent,

lightweight, and networked (Yelton & Schoener, 2020). With the help of modern technology
