Describing and guiding nursing actions related to Solving the
Challenge of Diabetes among the African American Communities
The data and information deduced from literature review has played a
critical role in evaluating the nursing guideline, policies, advocacy,
conceptual frameworks needed to address the issues of type II diabetes
among the African American communities. According to Golden et al. (2017)
nurses can perform various duties or action to mitigate the rising incidence
of diabetes among the African-American communities. For instance, nurses
have a duty of educating and sensitizing the community to create the
awareness of the threats poses by diabetes. For instance, nurses can
independently or collaboratively form groups or program to educate the
community about the causes, effects, solution, and mitigation against the
rising incidence of diabetes. At the same time, participation in local
healthcare program is also a critical step that nurses can use to promote the
value of care for African-American communities facing diabetes (Bergstedt et
al., 2020). Some of the major duties of nurses under the community care
program may include educating patients, facilitating screening activities and
