Challenge of Diabetes among the African American Communities

The data and information deduced from literature review has played a

critical role in evaluating the nursing guideline, policies, advocacy,

conceptual frameworks needed to address the issues of type II diabetes

among the African American communities. According to Golden et al. (2017)

nurses can perform various duties or action to mitigate the rising incidence

of diabetes among the African-American communities. For instance, nurses

have a duty of educating and sensitizing the community to create the

awareness of the threats poses by diabetes. For instance, nurses can

independently or collaboratively form groups or program to educate the

community about the causes, effects, solution, and mitigation against the

rising incidence of diabetes. At the same time, participation in local

healthcare program is also a critical step that nurses can use to promote the

value of care for African-American communities facing diabetes (Bergstedt et

al., 2020). Some of the major duties of nurses under the community care

program may include educating patients, facilitating screening activities and

diseases management
