No matter how it’s put, If the true nature of an experiment must be kept from the subject to ensure their cooperation, it is
deception. Not being informed of the particulars within a research experiment is still consider deception.
We live in a forever evolving society that changes with the popular ideas of entertainers, athletes, elective officials, and a few titled
experts. “If this famous person said it, then it must be right.” We tend to trust the information given from an unchallenged source
without critically investigating the issue. We also justify our actions by using the past actions of others as a passed down fact. The use
of deception in research can be consider when an ethical process is used and the result present no intentional harm.
There is a popular television show in America called, "What Would You Do?" that uses the convincing talent of numerous actors
acting out scenes of conflict or illegal activity in public settings while hidden cameras videotape the scene, and the focus is on whether
bystanders intervene, and how. Variations are also usually included, such as changing the genders, the races or the clothing of the
actors performing the scene, to see if bystanders react differently. The host of the television show appears at the end of each scenario
to interview bystanders and witnesses about their reactions. The experiment goes on, psychology professors, teachers watch and
discuss the video by explaining and making inferences on the bystanders' reactions. control deception can be beneficial when use in
this manner. Unacceptable deception like the Tuskegee Syphilis Experiments were truly a nightmare of irrational research. It took a
minimum amount of imagination to transcribe the racist attitudes and insensitive act of those who were conducting the experiment and
those government officials who had
