Topic 7 DQ2: You have a client who is of a different culture and faith than your own. You are not comfortable dealing
with them due to past negative feelings from childhood. What are your ethical and legal obligations? Why are these
legal and ethical obligations in place?
When a psychologist is uncomfortable dealing with a client that causes negative feelings from childhood, they
can refer to principle E: Respect for People's Rights and Dignity, ethical standard 2.06 Personal Problems and
Conflicts and ethical standard 3.01 unfair discrimination.

As a psychologist in accordance with 3.01 unfair discrimination, my ethical and legal obligations will not allow
me to involve myself in the unethical practice of discriminating against a person’s religious preference.
