Project Planning-Scholarly Projects

Scholarly projects are a culmination of a learner’s academic journey. These projects seek to interrogate one’s ability to replicate theoretical concepts learned in class in resolving real-world scientific problems (Harris et al., 2020). The execution of scholarly projects involves putting into action a strategic plan detailing aspects of the project. In this regard, a project plan defines the execution and control steps of the project. It includes but is not limited to managing resources utilizable for the project, considerations for managing risks, baseline scheduling, and scope.

A project plan will come in handy when executing my scholarly project as it guarantees the success of these projects (Harris et al., 2020). This is because project plans help learners ensure that resources required for the project, such as funds, are identified and availed, likely impediments are identified, and a roadmap for executing the project is identified. In addition, Overgaard (2010) notes that the definition of the end goals and the working objectives that underlines project planning plays a role in ensuring the seamless execution of what is intended by the learner. Thus, a clear working plan is necessary before initiating a scholarly project.

The environment also plays a role in project planning and execution. It encompasses all internal and external factors that directly or indirectly influence the project. This may include financial resources, technology and technological influences, and demographic parameters of the target group. Accordingly, assessing the environment will provide a wider perspective of what is required during the execution phase. It will also help identify likely impediments to the project, such as time and funds limitations, the applicability of the research question in addressing real-world problems, material considerations for the project, and considerations for human resources required to execute the project (Pinto & Slevin, n.d.). Also, carefully scanning the project’s environment during the planning phase is important to ensure seamless flow and execution.

Technological advances considerably impact project execution. Several technologies exist that may help me evaluate the impact of their scholarly projects within a healthcare system. Technological advances that conceived virtual data generation and analysis are perhaps one of the most important web-based technologies for researchers. Survey collection tools such as Google Forms, Zoho Survey, Typeform, Jotform, and SoGoLytics are examples of such AI-based technologies. These tools relay the consumer’s feedback to the researcher and may help the researcher gain insight into what the consumers think of the project, their expectations, and the level of adoption of the research provisions. Through these tools, researchers can also identify gaps in the medical field that can be addressed through research.

The simplicity of survey tools makes them acceptable to a larger audience. Researchers interrogating aspects of healthcare can leverage the simplicity of these tools to gauge providers’ satisfaction with the provisions of the research and what they can improve to enhance the adoption of these provisions. These tools may also give insight into current practices and the healthcare environment that may influence the project itself. For instance, responses from medics on current practices and guidelines on schizophrenic management may help guide the need for improvements in schizophrenia management and subsequently form a research question on the same. Survey tools for healthcare research are particularly beneficial during the change management process involving aspects of the research. By interrogating how providers feel about the change, the researcher can know when to roll out its provisions. It can also help ramp up communication efforts to create better buy-in and willingness to adopt the research proposals.
