The very first argument which is made against the death penalty revolves around the risk of executing innocent people. In the case of making a mistake in ruling, there needs to be an awareness that this is not rectifiable. It’s an argument based on authority, leaning on the legal system’s fallibility (ICDP, 2021). The assumption here is that judicial systems are prone to error, and the finality of execution leaves no room for correction. Counterexamples include cases where wrongfully convicted individuals were exonerated, often after lengthy periods, underscoring the potential for irreversible errors.
In the US, family law differs by state. The adoption of kids by same-sex couples is legal throughout the country as from June 2015 due to the decision of the Supreme Court on the Obergefell v. Hodges civil case. However, Mississippi never had its same-gender adoption ban get struck until March 2016. Nevertheless, policies concerning adoption differ significantly between jurisdictions, and some states accept adoption by all couples, whereas others ban unmarried couples from adopting kids. When it comes to the case of Brunei, same-sex adoption is illegal, fostering or parenting is illegal (Muchransyah, 421).

Given the ethical and social implications of human enhancement technologies, it is essential to regulate their use to ensure that they are used responsibly and ethically. The first reason to regulate these technologies is to ensure that the potential benefits of these technologies are shared fairly and equitably–this includes using the technologies responsibly. Regulating these technologies can also help to ensure that potential health risks are managed and reduced (Kass, 2003).
